Exploring Neurodiversity

A suite of short courses

Approximately 1 in 7 people worldwide have one or more neurodivergent conditions and so it matters greatly to understand what neurodiversity actually is.

  

These courses are open to everyone interested in the topic of neurodiversity, either through their personal or family connections with neurodivergence or if they are simply wishing to find out more about this emerging and interesting topic. 

These courses will be of particular interest to those working in Human Resource Management and equality, diversity and inclusion specialist roles.

 

All courses are delivered live online and are 1.5 to 2 hours in duration.

Facilitator for the Neurodiversity courses

 

This suite of courses is delivered by Dr Anne Cockayne. Anne is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Human Resource Management, leading the Learning and Development module for the professional CIPD programmes.

Anne’s career began in personnel management, working with large companies including Boots, STC Telecommunications and ICL, before taking up the Head of HR p   ost at a Nottingham based software firm.

Neurodiversity Awareness

COURSE
Neurodiversity Awareness
90-minutes live online course

In this introductory course you will explore the key concepts within neurodiversity and demystify the many myths surrounding neurodiversity.

You will also find out some key figures relating to employment, learn about employment legislation in relation to neurodiversity.

 

At the end of this module, you will know more about reasonable adjustments and how you can support neurodivergent colleagues in your teams and be confident in talking about neurodivergence.

This course builds upon the foundation course of Neurodiversity Awareness and explores in more detail the common scenarios associated with managing neurodivergent team members.

The module enables you to lead by optimising contributions from neurodivergent colleagues and to develop a neuro-inclusion climate within your team/s

Exploring ADHD

COURSE
Exploring Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
2-hour online course

During the course you will explore ADHD in greater detail, finding out more about ADHD strengths and challenges as they relate to the workplace and wider society.

You will learn more about the issues affecting ADHD women and develop understanding of the roles and careers where ADHD strengths can be used to advantage.

This course is for all genders - one of the areas that will be explored is ADHD and women, as ADHD is often not recognised or diagnosed early in women.
